Gluten-Free Bread Favs

Amanda Mercurio

As someone with Celiac disease and who has tried it all when it comes to gluten-free products, I've come to find that MOST store-bought gluten free bread is processed junk. Here are my best recommendations I can make with what is out there!

Against The Grain makes the best clean-ingredient gluten free bread products that I've seen in conventional grocery stores. Seed-oil free, and the base is made with tapioca, egg, & cheese. So if you have issue with those ingredients then you're out of luck... BUT all of their products are so yummy. We love the frozen baguettes!

As far as processed gluten-free bread goes, Canyon is one of the better choices. I have yet to find a packaged bread that is NOT made with omega-6 seed oils... aside from that, the ingredients are pretty good with Canyon. Their gluten-free Sweet Hawaiian bread is one of my favorites.

Nutrition note: Still made with canola oil sadly.

Pacha offers frozen gluten-free sourdough bread that can be ordered online. Simple, two-ingredient products and the benefits of sourdough. Not the least expensive option for sure but worth it! (www.livepacha.com)

Food For Life makes great sprouted grain gluten free breads (sprouted is always a better choice!). These are not as common to find as Food For Life's regular breads (Ezekial bread being one of them) BUT you may find them in the frozen section of your grocery store or online. My personal favorite are their gluten free English muffins!

Nutrition note: great ingredients but some options contain seed oil. The English muffins are oil free though!

Schar is another better store-bought option for gluten-free bread. Ingredient list is not perfect but they do make their bread sourdough style which I like. Overall taste is great, especially the deli-style sourdough slices (these are so yummy).

Nutrition note: made with sunflower oil and added soy protein (processed).
